Midwest Workers Association (MWA) is a free and voluntary, private unincorporated membership association of the Chicago area’s lowest-paid workers. Since 1996, MWA has been uniting people from all walks of life to deal with immediate needs of members while building an historic fight to end poverty.
MWA’s members are the backbone of the economy, working in factories through temporary agencies; as seasonal workers in landscaping, construction and snow removal; doing service work such as in-home health care, fast food, childcare, maintenance and security. Chicago’s economy would not function without these workers, but wages for this essential work fall short of meeting even basic survival needs. MWA is 100% volunteer run and completely independent of government funding.
Join us in organizing and fighting for an economy that provides decency and dignity for all workers! Call MWA today to join our historic efforts as a member or a volunteer. The office is open and volunteers are ready to take your call seven days a week, 9am-9pm.
